Mistress of Ceremony: Champagne Hughes

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area Champagne Hughes has enjoyed working in the entertainment realm. Champagne spent an abundance of her time within the means of general education and training in Theater arts and Business - Event Management. Currently a Senior earning her Bachelors of Arts degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Acting at San Jose State University, Champagne is expected to graduate in June 2010.

During her high school career she had produced and directed the first black play shown in Hayward, CA in over 60 years as well as acted in yearly theatre productions. She was also a second year student at CAL ARTS' California Summer School for the Arts in Valencia, CA with an emphasis in Acting. In addition, she graduated at the top ten of her senior year class of 2006 from Hayward High School.

Throughout her college career, Champagne has been profoundly active in San Jose State University’s Theatre Productions ranging from supporting roles to stage management. She appeared as the Rapper/Chorus in “Goodnight Desdemona, Good morning Juliet” directed by Buddy Butler, a Chorus member in “Imperialism: The Musical” directed and produced by Scott Sublet, and Lampito in “Lysistrata” directed by Chris Carter. Champagne was also the assistant stage manager for “Secret in the Wings” directed by Kathleen Normington and currently stage manager for “Yellowface” directed by Laura Long. Also, she has obtained a campus radio show with KSJS 90.5FM for two consecutive years titled “Pen and Paper” playing neo-soul to R&B to Underground Hip Hop music while coordinating weekend events for the station to provide recognition of the station to the South Bay audience.

Furthermore, Champagne is recently interning with Clear Channel's radio station KYLD Wild 94.9FM within the promotions and marketing department. She is currently assistant coordinator for WiLD 94.9s upcoming event “Girls Night Out” under the direction of Promotions Director – Tony Ng. Champagne's other past and present services includes a Video Production Intern for Warner Bros. Records, an Administrative and Event Production Intern for HaterProof Entertainment, an active member of the Black Student Union, San Jose State University Chapter, an active member for the NAACP, member of San Jose State University, School Touring Ensemble Program (S.T.E.P.) for two consecutive semesters directed by Buddy Butler, program director of the San Jose/Silicon Valley NAACP branch, and the NAACP Theatre Festival Operations Manager for the Beverly Hills/Hollywood NAACP branch. After graduation Champagne plans to pursue a Doctorates Degree in Theatre Arts and a professional career as an actress, radio personality, and event coordinator.
